Safety at School

Dogs
Please do not bring dogs onto the school premises, tie them to school fences or allow them to obstruct the pavement where children walk.
No matter how gentle your animal is, children can be easily scared.
Please don’t allow your dog to foul pavements on the route to school. Bag it and bin it!

Smoking
In accordance with the non-smoking law that came into effect on 1st July 2007, no smoking is permitted in the school and school grounds. Please can we also remind you that it is now illegal to smoke in a car when a child is a passenger.

Scooters and Bikes

For safety reasons, scooters and bikes must be pushed once inside the school grounds.

Playground Equipment

The fixed playground equipment has been designed for use by primary school aged children under direct supervision of school staff between 9:00 - 3:00.  For safety reasons pupils and toddlers must not use the equipment before and after school.

Woodland Area

This area is out of bounds before and after school.  Pupils have the opportunity to explore this area and have fun during school hours when they can be supervised by staff.

Road Safety
As we are a healthy school, we actively encourage children to walk to school.

We would ask parents to ensure that their child crosses under the School Crossing Patrol Officer’s supervision on Courtney Road which operates from 8.30 am to 8.55 am and 3.10 pm to 3.40 pm at the end of school.  The crossing patrol does not operate at lunchtimes.  Children must use the pedestrian entrances.

Motorists MUST NOT PARK on the zig zag lines outside the school at any time especially when delivering or collecting children.  This includes the coach bay and the loading bay. The lines have been specifically painted on the road to improve vision around the entrances where the safety of children is particularly important.  A 20 mph speed restriction zone is in operation on Courtney Road when the crossing patrol is in operation.
